Christmas music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance
Bild: Engel

The different temperaments and sensations related to Christmas become perceptible when one compares the occidental musical styles. The sweetness and melancholy of England meets the charm of France and the rhythmical temper of Spain. The programme also includes pieces from Germany like “Es stot ein lind in himelrich”, written by Heinrich von Laufenberg who was a chaplain at the Freiburg Munster in the 15th century.

[The CD „Es stot ein lind in himelrich“ in collaboration with the Boys’ Choir of the Munster at Freiburg was released by ARS MUSICI in 1998]
